About the Workplace

The Property Management Administration creates environments where life can take place by planning, building, renting, managing, and developing premises and outdoor environments for the City of Gothenburg's operations.

Every day, hundreds of thousands of Gothenburg residents are active in preschools, schools, care homes, and other premises that we manage. Together with the Urban Environment Administration, the Exploitation Administration, and the City Planning Administration, we have a coordinated responsibility for urban development in the City of Gothenburg. This means a shared distribution of responsibilities and roles based on stages: planning, implementation, and management with the goal of contributing to a cohesive, efficient, and transparent urban development for residents, visitors, and businesses in the city.

Job Responsibilities

We in the Management and Property Development Department are responsible for ensuring the usability and changing needs of properties over time so that tenants' space needs can be met. This is achieved through close collaboration with customers, other departments within the administration, partners, and other organizations in the city. The department is responsible for ordering the implementation of feasibility studies, new and renovation projects, planned maintenance measures, repairs, and ongoing supervision and management of the administration's execution departments. Furthermore, the department participates in the early stages of urban development to ensure that tenants' development needs can be met.

We are now looking for a unit manager for our Planning and Property Development unit. The unit is responsible for translating tenants' space change needs into feasible projects together with other departments within the administration. Furthermore, the unit's employees participate in the early stages of urban development to create suitable conditions for future space supply. The unit is also responsible for providing administrative support to the department. The unit consists of 12 engaged employees who have well-developed collaboration and contact points with both tenants, urban development functions, and other departments within the administration. Concurrently with the recruitment, a review of the structure and organization of the administration's operations in the area where the unit operates is underway. This means that the assignment may look a little different than it does today. The direction for a potential change will be decided before the recruitment is completed so that the assignment is clear at that time.

The work as a unit manager consists of leading, planning, and following up on the unit's assignments and activities. As a manager, you are clear about what the assignment is and together with the employees, you organize the work in a good way and create favorable working conditions. You are attentive to the needs of those the unit is there for and engage your employees in the work of meeting these needs. You are open to change, actively seize the opportunities that development offers, and remove obstacles for employees to think innovatively. In your role as unit manager, you also have personnel, work environment, and budget responsibilities. You develop internal relationships and create conditions for the unit's employees to contribute to the property portfolio being developed in a purposeful way.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has a higher education degree at least at the bachelor's level in a relevant field.

The following is required for the position:

  • Experience working in the community building sector
  • Experience as a manager with personnel, work environment, and budget responsibilities
  • Experience working with planning and building legislation
  • Very good IT skills in Office 365 and good experience working with various software
  • Good communication skills in both speech and writing.

We consider it advantageous if you have experience working in the IT systems Proceedo and/or Antura.
